Dr. Nguyen currently serves as Deputy Director at The Hong Kong University Representative Office in Vietnam (HKUVN).
He was a co-founder and a senior consultant on economic, financial and labor market policy at Hathaway Policy – a Hanoi-based consultancy firm. He was also a former Assistant Professor of Economics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) between 2015 and 2019, former lecturer at Johns Hopkins University and University of Tennessee – Knoxville between 2008 and 2015.
He has published at top international journals, such as Journal of Banking and Finance and International Review of Economics and Finance; as well written regularly for the People’s Newspaper (Nhan Dan), Saigon Times, VnEconomy and other outlets. In 2022, he and his co-author won the C (Third) Prize in Vietnam’s National Press Awards – the most prestigious awards for journalism in Vietnam.
